Life Leak

I joined weeklyblogclub to explore the expectations around blogging.

I learned this week that reading other posts provides a great source of inspiration for new blog ideas. I saw that bloggers' life and work experiences, the analogies they use in their posts and their writing style mixed together, provides the whole ‘blog experience’.

Over time, the contents of a bloggers head gradually transfer into the pages and posts of their blog. I’ve called this ‘life leak’ and will no doubt use it a lot more.

It might not necessarily be eloquently put, but it works – and is probably my style. It is not meant to be derogatory either.

But actually we need to be careful how our life leak is managed and in how our professional and private profiles intertwine. My life leaks all over my digital identity. I'm sure I will come back to this.

And some posts I've read this week are short and some are long and need return trips to fully digest.

But it does not stop there. Add together the dialogue and discussion between bloggers about process and around contributions and you have an infectious community – creating more expectation and anticipation.

So my journey of discovery into understanding the expectations of blogging has already been partly completed. The expectation is a big part of the product – for the blogger!

And in reading Kate Bentham’s blog about social media support networks, which was great, I noticed her previous post which mentioned localgovcamp (an unconference for local government people) in Birmingham last year. This inspired the idea for my 'Not too nice to listen' post. Thanks Kate!
